We use the terms “peace” and “security” to describe conditions in which people and their kin are able to thrive. This includes the absence of war and protection from physical violence, but it goes further. Thriving, in this larger sense, means cultivating long-term health and well-being, both physical and mental, as the foundations of peace and security.
Every day people around the world come together to improve the health and well-being of their communities, and in so doing, help to sustain and strengthen local peace and security.
